If you have a loved one that suffers from substance abuse or a mental illness, you may feel as though there's nothing you can do to help them overcome their turmoil--but you can. A few years ago, my oldest sibling became addicted to alcohol. Seeing my loved one struggle with their drinking problem not only broke my heart, but it also broke the strong bond my family had with them. My sibling became angry and withdrawn, and nothing I did seemed to help. But finally, I sought counseling for them and my family. My family learned why my sibling chose to drink and what we could do to help them stop. It wasn't an easy situation for us, but we all got through it as a family. If your loved one needs help, don't hesitate to read my blog for helpful tips and advice.
